About David Louis

about David Louis

“I have often been deeply grateful for your calm, your focus, and your ability to redirect difficult behavior into productive conversation…I am very happy with the final agreement. Thank you so much. We would never have been able to come to all those compromises without you leading us there.”

After 30 years working in finance, David Louis forged a new career as a mediator in New York state and now works out of Chicago, Illinois, providing video conferencing for New York clients. David holds the highest level of accreditation for family and divorce mediators in New York state. His training includes the Association for Conflict Resolution approved training for Divorce Mediation by the Mediation Center in Rochester, New York, and hundreds of hours of additional mediation training and continuing education. David has worked with hundreds of families in both New York and Illinois as a family and divorce mediator. He has also been trained in Collaborative Divorce Practice where he fosters strong relationships with local attorneys and mental health professionals. In collaborative divorce cases, David participates as a Financial Neutral and Neutral Facilitator.

From 2006-2016 while living in New York, David generously donated his time as a volunteer mediator for several Community Dispute Resolution Centers in the Capital District of New York. In Chicago, David has continued his commitment as a volunteer for the Center for Conflict Resolution, the leading non-profit mediation center in Illinois.

Approach to Mediation

David’s work as a mediator and facilitator reflects his passion for working with couples and families as they face the significant challenges involved in separation and divorce. He strives to create a neutral process that empowers his clients to communicate with each other in mediation to make their own informed decisions as they navigate this difficult transition and move on with their lives. Where separation and divorce involve children, mediation can help divorcing spouses to build a durable parenting plan that acknowledges their need to remain partners as parents to minimize the impact of divorce on their children.
